INDUS ACADEMY : ITS EVOLUTION-A GLIMPSE
Under the backdrop of the natinal and local school educational scenario, a group of seven enterprising social activists, academicians and enterpreneurs of Jagiroad assembled in the early part of this century and had constant brainstorming sessions strongly feeling the urgency of developing the school education scenario of the township. A number of informal discussions were held with guardians and prominent citizens of Jagiroad and its vicinity which added momentum for establishing a school under the CBSE curriculum that would fulfill the long existing vacant space in terms of school education of the area. The Indus Educational Trust, thus, was established and registered as a trust paving the way for the establishment of Indus Academy at Jagiroad.

The school started with 102 students and nine teachers in a premise of its own at Silbhanga Jagiroad on 10th February, 2003. Indus Academy was inagugurated by Sri Chandra Kanta Ojha, the then Principal of KV, NPM, in the presence of around five hundred prominent citizens of the greater Jagiroad locality besides the guardians, students, trustees and teachers of the schoool. The meeting generated immense goodwill and enthusiasm that encouraged the members of the school family. During thae next academic session the enrollment of students doubled that spoke of the tenacity and commitment of the team of the staff and the Board of Trustees. Only within three years of its establishment the school has got an enrolment roll of around 350 young learners.

Indus Academy underwent the thorough and minute affiliation process of the central Board of Secondary Education, Delhi, in 2006 and came out with flying colours. The granting of the CBSE affiliation up to Secondary level has thus given a fillip to all its future plants and promrammes. The joining of Sri Prasanta Bhattacharyya as the Principal of the school has generated much enthusiasm and hope among the stakeholders of the school. Within a few years Indus Academy modestly aims to occupy a prominent place in the school education scenario of the North East.
